If you are anything like me, you wait a day or two for the fast frenzy of an event opening to slow down a bit. Then, distracted, you forget and start anticipating the next event which you will also defer attending for a day or two. Meanwhile, the first event continues and all of a sudden it is nearly over and you are this [ ] close to missing it. Well, you are that [ ] close to missing Fashion For Life. It ends tomorrow, so go today.
That is where I found this delightful sky blue pink dress from G. Field. It gets all the feminine details just right from the ruffles along the neckline to the softly puffed sleeves to the bow that ties in the back. Add the cherry blossoms that fade into the blue of the sky and it’s just a dream of a dress.
There is no shopping guide this year, so it is a bit tricky to find specific stores. However, there is one way you can always find exactly what you want and exactly where to find it. Go the list of in-world items at Relay For Life’s web site. Here is the link to a database of all the vendors. Select the type of item you are looking for. For example, I wanted to find Essenz shoes for Fashion For Life, so I selected Avatar Shoes and hit Go. This brought up a list.
As you can see, the item name is there, I can mouseover for a picture, and it has info on the team and the price as well. The far left text is hyperlinked to a slur that will take you to the exact spot where you can find the item you want.
Fashion For Life is the big mainstream fashion event for the Relay For Life seasons. With 9 shopping sims all inspired by shopping districts in the fashion capitols of the world, it is fun to explore how the sim designers interpret and reflect London, New York, Milan, Berlin, Los Angeles, Tokyo and Paris. There are also two activity sims inspired by Central Park. But of course, it is not just about fun sims and beautiful clothes. It is about raising funds to finance research, support families and treat people living with cancer. Keep that goal in mind as you shop and be generous.
It’s personal for me. I have lost my brother to cancer and my sister is just finishing up her final chemo treatment, treatments that brought her white blood count down to zero for weeks on end, leaving her open to more than five bouts of pneumonia and a host of other diseases while she tried to rebuild her immune system.
Meanwhile a former colleague and longtime friend is showing uncommon courage as the navigates the many experimental treatments and trials while finding how to live with death perched on her shoulder. In January, she was the third person to try a new treatment where they heated her blood up to 107°, hoping to bake the cancer out of her. It did not go as well as hoped, but she is indomitable and is now seeking new ideas. We need new ideas, ones that won’t leave my sister wracked with pneumonia and unable to even borrow books from the library for fear of bacteria. To do this, we need to support the American Cancer Society and Relay For Life.
Meanwhile, if you want to start anticipating the next big thing – Lelutka is releasing three mesh heads on April 1st. I will write more about these heads in another post – because there are some cool things about the controls that deserve more attention. The hair is from ICONIC, called Delmar. It’s flexi, so there is some alpha flickering in world, but surprisingly little. This is unedited. what you see is what you get and I think it is really impressive.
